The Power of the small Yes's and No's
Hello! I am a part-time assistant for Mike and Rachel and their Faith Based Productivity business. I am not sure how I ended up there, since I feel like l am not an expert on productivity at all. But I love the collaboration it offers, and to catch and help assist in the vision of this ministry has been life changing already. One thing I remember Mike teaching me about, is the power of small change, and how it really adds up over time.
I am taking inventory of my life and finding my life’s core principals. I am facing some things in my life that I want to change. And some of those things are so big, it seems like it would be impossible for it to ever change, and for that change to last. One of those things is my health and loosing weight.
It could seem like an impossible task, trying to change habits and behaviors that have been hanging on for years. But I am finding confidence in the power of the small yes and no. Saying a small yes to something good in my day- a 20 minute walk outside. Saying a small no to something that is not good for my body- sorry Dunkin, no donuts for me today.
No, I am not where I want to be in my health. But making those small adjustments throughout my day are really starting to add up. No, I won’t guarantee you will loose 50 pounds by next week, but, I do feel better after I take that 20 minute walk. My mind is cleared, my blood is circulating some nice fresh oxygen through, and stress has melted away. Saying no to the donut helps my body not spike in glucose, leading my pancreas to work overtime to regulate what I just put in my body. Leading me to hit the slump hour after my insulin drops and cause me to eat more sugary stuff to pick me back up again.
It truly does all add up! And the more you say “yes” to the things that cause you to walk out your core values, and “no” to the things that take you away from them, it changes you as a person. You are walking in your true identity, and there is a joy and a peace and a confidence that comes when we are doing what we know we should be doing.
I just wanted to write a little note of encouragement- to feel really good about those “small” yes’s and no’s. To embrace them, and to celebrate when you make a good choice in life. Do a happy dance or smile at yourself in the mirror… go ahead and wink at yourself too if you are feeling a bit cheeky!
